Encoding Issue with ChatGPT iOS App and Notion

Dear OpenAI Support Team,
I am experiencing an encoding issue when copying text from the ChatGPT iOS app and pasting it into Notion. The pasted text includes strange characters, such as accented “A”s or other unreadable symbols, making it unusable.
Interestingly, this issue does not occur when using the web version of ChatGPT or when copying the text first into Apple Notes and then into Notion. This suggests that the problem might be related to how the iOS app handles text encoding or formatting during copy-paste operations.
Could you please investigate this issue? I am happy to provide additional details if needed.
Thank you for your assistance.
Best regards,

Facing the same issues, i.e. when copying text with special characters (such as “ä”) from ChatGPT to Outlook on iOS.

Wanted to pile on as I’m also encountering the same issue. This happens when using ChatGPT’s built in copy issue or when selecting portions of the text.

Not certain if it’s related, but the ChatGPT app on Mac also fails to encode the copy/paste buffer correctly and I often have to first paste the text into an application like Word to get bullets, outlines, indenting to format correctly. Attempting to paste into any other applications usually results in wildly different interpretations of the text.

While I know there are challenges here, ChatGPT just seems to fundamentally fail at handling these use cases in a coherent manner that align with normal iOS, iPadOS, or MacOS behavior.

Same issue, and not only on Notion!

The image displays a text snippet with formatting issues, showing characters like "’" and "Ã" instead of expected Italian words. (Captioned by AI)

I have the same issue pasting into Pages and plain text documents. Quotation marks, apostrophes, bullets, dashes, etc look fine on the GPT output screen, but when copied and pasted into a document various weird symbols are inserted. This began a couple months ago. I addressed this with GPT during a couple hour session, back and forth. Once the generated text was copied intact but GPT did not identify or retain the change it made to accomplish it. The next generation reverted to the same problem. Custom instructions GPT suggested had no effect. This happens on my Mac desktop and my iPad versions of Pages and Text edit. This is really bothersome. Please help me get this fixed. Thank you in advance.

I’m on a paid version of ChatGPT and certainly do not expect these types of font encoding issues. Given that so many people are facing this issue I’m surprised that there’s not more work to resolve it. My particular issue is being on an Apple iPhone and copying text from ChatGPT into my Outlook app and pasting it. I end up having to spend a lot of time going back and removing the symbols and changing it when I’m on my phone apps and it’s incredibly frustrating. I do not encounter this issue when I’m on my desktop programs only when I’m on my iPhone 15 utilising ChatGPT app and Microsoft Outlook app.
If anyone has any hacks to overcome this please share them otherwise. Hopefully ChatGPT will realise the frustration they’re causing and looking to resolve in this ASAP.
