TYPICAL EXAMPLE:

Prompt:

Vertical aspect ratio; Portrait orientation in 1024px width and 1792px height; Hiperrealism; Overhead shot; Dramatic misty rain ambience; A mixed race 4y serene young girl communes with her own heart; Remarkably delicate face; Long hair; A contrasting warm light emanates from her chest; In the narrow and turbulent background, portrait oriented (very important), other kids are playing tag, wicked faces, they run aggressively into each other to compete and win.

(DALLE returns 2 landscape images with 90 degree rotation)

Edit prompt:

You made a horizontal rotated image; Now invert the orientation to a vertical aspect ratio.

(DALLE returns 1 landscape image with 90 degree rotation)

Prompt:

Now invert again.

(DALLE returns a landscape image)

Prompt:

Now invert once more.

(DALLE returns 1 landscape image with 90 degree rotation)

DALLE consistently does not understand what a vertically oriented image is. It thinks a portrait orientation equals exactly to a rotated landscape image.

If you need vertical orientation, don’t buy this s

Yes, known since long time.

If you constantly get landscape images in portrait, you have a good chance to get a right one with “rotate the image 90°”

If you are lucky, it rotates the content and not the format.
But there is no guarantee that it works.
