DALL·E Still Not Working in GPTs – I Don’t Want GPT-4o’s Image Tool

Hi everyone,

I wanted to follow up since I’m still facing issues with DALL·E image generation inside ChatGPT, and I’ve seen others reporting similar problems.

Here’s my situation:

  • I’m on ChatGPT Plus, and I subscribed only for DALL·E image generation.
  • DALL·E does not generate images anymore — only text descriptions — even when using the official DALL·E GPT.
  • The standalone DALL·E tool page just redirects users to the main chat and never shows image results.
  • Yes, GPT-4o has a “Create an image” tool, and technically it works — but that’s not what I want or paid for.

I specifically need DALL·E — not GPT-4o’s native image tool — because it supports variation, refinements, and a different creative flow that my work depends on.

Support has confirmed:

  • There’s no outage, no account block, and no restriction for Plus users.
  • The behavior I’m experiencing is “not expected.”

I’ve shared multiple screenshots with support and am still waiting on resolution. This issue is breaking my workflow, and I’m even willing to pay more if needed — I just want DALL·E access working properly inside GPTs and/or the DALL·E tool.

If anyone else is facing this — or if someone from OpenAI can give an update — it would mean a lot.

Same issue here, hasn’t been working for 2 days now.

Same issues here. It stopped working Friday midday, was working in the morning. Then just saved all my prompts but has not generated anything since then.

Same here. I raised it with Support and they said:

..“At the time you reached out, our system experienced a platform outage that caused higher-than-usual error rates. This issue has now been resolved and we’re actively working to improve our system reliability. For more details about the issue, please see our status page: https://status.openai.com/”…

However, still not working for me. I checked with a couple of others and they are having the same issue.
