DALL·E in ChatGPT Not Working – Can't Generate Images

I finally was able to generate image. Try it out guys.

Make certain that you have the 4o selected as the current model. If not, the Dall-e3 GPT will act as though it cannot generate images. Since making that correction, Dall-e3 GPT has been successfully generating images.

On free account, you cannot see it. You need a paid account like ChatGPT Plus

Only DALL-E uses dalle tool. All other GPTs use image_gen tool if their capibilities are enable.

For example with this GPT, you cannot create image, because I did not make enable its image generation capibility.

Free account users cannot create custom GPT. To create a custom GPT, you need a Plus account.

Also, if you have a Plus account, you cannot change other GPTs capibilities. Each custom GPT can be edited by its own creator. You can change only your own custom GPTs’ capibilities, not others.

For example you can create image with this GPT if your daily limit is not consumed. But, you cannot search on web, cannot analyze files, cannot use canvas:

This isn’t a prompt issue — it’s a backend deactivation confirmed across browsers, devices, and by multiple users. No warning, no notice, no fallback. The GPT still appears active, but image generation has been silently disabled.

This function was the only reason I subscribed. It needs to be restored urgently in its original form.

The GPT card still implies image generation works, but the core functionality has been removed. This misleads users and breaks paid workflows. GPT-4o’s “Create an image” tool is not equivalent — it is slower, less refined, and repetitive.

This sudden change has disrupted work for thousands — just look at OpenAI’s community forums (1.1K+ views, 60+ replies on one thread alone).

I just came across the same issue. Has this been solved by anyone? I’m getting really bummed and worried mine won’t be restored. Is it just a longer wait? anyone have updates?
