Customizable Display Width and Margin Scaling for Web Application

Hello OpenAI Team,

I am a frequent user of the ChatGPT web application on a desktop setup, regularly connecting my laptop to an external monitor. When utilizing the browser in full-screen mode, the central text container remains quite narrow, resulting in a substantial amount of unused whitespace on both sides of the screen.

To improve readability and maximize screen real estate on larger displays, it would be highly beneficial if users were given the option to customize the content layout width or toggle a full-width display mode.

P.S.: I used to use a web-extension called Wide GPT for this, however, the recent UI update killed it’s functionality.

I’d like to add that this is not only an issue on ultrawide or very large displays.
Even at 1920×1080, the actual conversation area remains unnecessarily narrow, leaving a large amount of unused horizontal space.

The same limitation also affects the ChatGPT desktop app on Linux, so this is not just a browser-specific issue.

A configurable maximum conversation width, or simply a “wide/full-width” display option, would be very useful — especially for technical discussions, code blocks, tables, and longer responses.
