This latest update to the ChatGPT Android app—where voice-to-text input auto-sends the moment I stop speaking—is a massive step backward. It completely breaks my workflow and kills the way I naturally use this app.
Before, I could speak freely, see the transcription appear in the text field, and then edit, refine, or add context before sending. That was perfect. Now, it just hijacks everything, sends it instantly, and doesn’t even let me catch errors—especially brutal since my phone’s native speech-to-text sucks and stops if I pause too long. No punctuation. No clean formatting. And now, no control.
Who thought it was a good idea to remove something that was working flawlessly?
This may seem like a small tweak on your end, but for people like me who use ChatGPT for deep thinking, stream-of-consciousness prompting, content creation, and refined conversations—it’s a dealbreaker. I literally can’t use the mic now. That’s not progress, that’s regression.
Please—at the very least—give us a toggle in settings:
“Auto-send voice input: On / Off”
Don’t remove what worked for so many of us without giving a choice. This change feels rushed, untested, and deeply frustrating. I love this tool, and I use it every day, but this particular move completely derails my experience.
Bring back editable voice input. Please.

I would def hit up the big guys because I haven’t had that issue yet. Let me know what they say. Until then good luck!
It’s extremely disappointing. I don’t know what you mean by big giluys though. I am praying this gets fixed because it is such an interruption in my flow. You’re lucky. Happy for you.

Did you try updating the app? Uninstall and reinstall? Sorry to ask the obvious but sometimes that is the best place to start. Let me know. I’ll try to help you figure it out.
I have, yes. The workaround I’ve found for now is using the web app instead of the actual app. It still allows me to edit it in there
I prefer the app on my phone, better layout, though and it takes an extra step for me to click into the microphone on the web app. All annoyances that shouldn’t be.

Your Solution works very well for now, though would prefer the mobile app to revert to the Old way of voice dictation. Thanks for the Help.
I really hope they fix this. The web app sucks… I can’t add to project on mobile, amongst other things.
Tried using ChatGPT web on mobile. Totally unreliable. Most of the times, voice never gets transcribed and the entire voice data is lost.
