Feature Request: Calendar-Based Chat History & Date/Time Stamps for Individual Messages
Dear OpenAI Team,
I would like to suggest two features that would significantly improve ChatGPT’s conversation history and make it much easier for users to find, review, and manage their previous conversations.
1. Calendar-Based Chat History
It would be extremely useful to have a calendar view of ChatGPT history, similar to the way Telegram allows users to navigate message history by date.
For example:
2026 → September → 2 → Conversations from that day
A user could select any date from a calendar and immediately see all ChatGPT conversations from that particular day.
Ideally, the feature could include:
- Year / month / date calendar navigation
- Number of conversations on each day
- Clicking a date to display conversations from that date
- Direct opening of a selected conversation
- Search by date or date range
- Combination of keyword + date search
- An “On This Day” option to revisit old conversations
- Ability to see when a particular topic was first discussed
This would be especially valuable for users who have accumulated hundreds or thousands of conversations over several years.
2. Date and Time Stamp on Every Message
I would also strongly recommend adding a date and time stamp to every individual ChatGPT message, similar to WhatsApp and Telegram.
For example:
User message
“Can you tell me the maximum RAM supported by this PC?”
02 September 2026, 03:12 AM
ChatGPT response
“Your system supports…”
02 September 2026, 03:13 AM
The interface could remain clean by showing only the time by default, while tapping or long-pressing the timestamp could display the complete date and time.
It would also be useful to have:
- Exact date and time for every user message
- Exact date and time for every ChatGPT response
- Date separators such as Today, Yesterday, 01 September 2026
- Local timezone displayed according to the user’s device/account
- Search/filter conversations by date and time
Why these features would be valuable
ChatGPT is increasingly being used not only for casual questions but also as a long-term knowledge and work archive.
Users may want to remember:
- When they first discussed a particular subject
- When a decision was made
- When a particular problem was solved
- What information was available at a particular point in time
- The chronological development of a project or idea
- Previous conversations from a specific day or period
Currently, finding an old conversation can become difficult when a user has a large chat history.
A combination of:
Calendar → 
Search → 
Exact Message Timestamp
would make ChatGPT’s history significantly more powerful and user-friendly.
Suggested feature name
ChatGPT Timeline / Calendar History
with:
Calendar View + Date/Time Stamps + Date-Based Search
I believe these would be relatively simple but extremely valuable improvements to the ChatGPT experience.
Please consider adding these features in a future version of ChatGPT.
