Copying text from Mac desktop app now includes formatting, should not

My primary use for ChatGPT is to translate markdown formatted text into different languages. The app displays markdown properly. For example, “- item 1” is displayed as a bullet list:
• item 1

When the app translates my text, it then displays the result in the same format (e.g. a bulleted list). Prior to the latest two app updates, when I tapped the copy button on the result it would copy the result as markdown (unformatted plain text), which is what I want. I need plain text with the formatting intact.

The app was recently changed so that the copy button no longer copies the naked text, but includes formatting. A bulleted list item is no longer a - (hyphen) but a • (filled circle). This is the same as the old app version behavior when copying the text by drag-selecting in the output window.

Even worse, the copied result now includes the font size and color, meaning I can’t copy directly into a graphics editing app or word processor without messing with the formatting.

I know that I can work around the font size and color problem by first pasting into an app that strips formatting, but this doesn’t fix the symbol changing a hyphen to a •. I have to find and replace all instances. This is frustrating for something I do frequently in a repetitive workflow.

The ChatGPT app is not a graphics or word processing app, and should not be imposing any formatting on the copied output. Please restore the old behavior or give us some way to get unformatted output from the app. I thought it was very clever before that it had nice markdown support where the display was “pretty” but the copied output was the source markdown.
