Hello
I would like to express my concern about the generation of images in the style of Studio Ghibli. I know that artificial intelligence can create images inspired by different artistic styles, but I think that directly imitating the work of such an iconic studio can be disrespectful to the original creators.
I believe that OpenAI should consider restricting this type of generation to respect the artists and avoid potential copyright issues. I imagine that the creators may feel hurt by seeing their aesthetics being used in an automated way.
I would like to know if you have discussed this internally and what is OpenAI’s position on the matter. Thank you in advance for your attention!

I agree @nyck_097. I’ve been following the discussion around AI-generated art and think it’s important how we navigate the balance between technological progress and respect for the artists who have inspired these developments.
AI-generated art has opened up incredible possibilities, and as this technology evolves, I think we must be mindful of the ethical implications for artists. Many creators spend years honing their craft, and the risk of AI mimicking their unique styles without compensation or credit can undermine the value of their work and their livelihoods.
While I understand that AI has the potential to enhance creativity and offer new forms of artistic expression, I believe we need to find a middle ground where both innovation and artist rights are respected. Here are a few suggestions I hope can be considered:
1. Encourage Innovation, But With Respect: Rather than limiting AI’s ability to generate art in specific styles, we could encourage AI to be a tool for inspiration rather than replication. This would allow artists to use AI as a collaborator rather than a competitor, leading to new forms of art that are both original and influenced by a broad range of styles.
2. Provide Transparency and Ethical Guidelines: Clear guidelines on how AI tools are trained and what data is used can ensure that artists are aware of how their work is being incorporated into these systems. Transparency would also help establish a framework for how we can fairly compensate artists whose work is used.
3. Create a Fair Revenue Model: As AI-generated art becomes more commercially viable, there should be a conversation about royalties or licensing models similar to those in the music industry. This would ensure that artists, particularly those whose styles are widely imitated, receive recognition and financial compensation for the use of their work.
4. Educational Prompts and Ethical Use: To further promote respect for artists, AI platforms could include prompts that encourage users to consider the impact of replicating specific styles and remind them of the importance of crediting original creators.
AI has the potential to elevate creativity, but we must make sure that it doesn’t exploit the very artists who are its foundation. I hope that OpenAI will take a leading role in creating ethical AI practices that foster collaboration between technology and human artistry.
Thank you for considering these thoughts. I look forward to seeing how AI can help us create a better, more creative future for all.
