I just wasted 30mins of my life because Codex IDE Extension in VScode says that it can read images and I attached them using the built in image attachment. It cannot view images at all and the send image UI is redundant and misleading. If I would’ve know I would had used the CLI instead. Will not be touching the extension until fixed. I was trying to make it review my UI/UX using playwright mcp and it told me it passed test 10/10 and the UI was completely broken and just passed npm run dev. Still loving the improvements though, kinda got me frustrated on this one stilll ![]()
Hi!
Can you give a few examples of the images you provided and the output it gives back for them?
I’ve just tried images on my vscode codex plugin and it seems to be working fine, I’ve asked the agent to describe an image I named “Bike (2).png” that actually contains an image of an emergency light.
Maybe, I need to reinstall the extension? I found it odd because CLI is working completely fine even better than a few days ago.
Hey @ecancel,
Are you still blocked here? Sorry for the delay, we’re working through a bit of a backlog, but I’d be happy to help however I can!
Uninstalled and installed again and it worked.
The issue I do have and have not resolved yet for a few weeks is being able to use Codex for PR reviews in Github. I have tried everything by removing the app and adding it, resetting configurations in Codex/ChatGPT and spent hours trying to see if it was a Github issue. It is for a private repo, which I thought maybe could be the reason? But I’ve been paying ChatGPT Pro and was hoping I could get the much needed feature.
