Background mode was recently released for codex cli but I don’t see the option in local codex cli. Is there a way to enable it?

Do you have a source for this? I don’t see this in the readme nor the release notes.
Thanks @merefield for your reply. I might have misread, seems like it’s available in response api though use case referenced was codex and deep research.

If it’s any consolation, I’ve yet to have codex-cli with o3 or o4-mini time out on me.
(this has happened a lot with the new codex model though!)
