Codex becomes unstable and constantly disconnects after “2x capacity until May 30” rollout despite only 50% usage

They announced “2x capacity until May 30”, but since that rollout Codex has become dramatically less stable for me.

I’m only around 50% usage and now I constantly get:

  • reconnecting loops

  • stream disconnected before completion

  • frozen thinking states

  • interrupted generations after 1–2 minutes

This happens on:

  • fresh chats

  • after rebooting my PC

  • stable internet

  • relatively small coding tasks

So what exactly does “2x capacity” mean if the experience becomes unusable before even reaching limits?

Right now it honestly feels more like throttling than increased capacity.

Are other people experiencing the same thing?

If I don’t get clarification or improvement quickly I’ll probably request a refund because reliability is the whole reason I pay for Codex in the first place.

Welcome to the forum!

You are welcome to discuss Codex issues on the forum, however the official place to report and track them is the GitHub issue tracker for OpenAI Codex.

I had ChatGPT look for the closest related issue and it identified:

If that issue matches your problem, consider adding a :+1: reaction on the GitHub issue page itself, not just on the forum topic, as reactions on GitHub help the developers gauge impact and prioritize work.

If it is not the same issue, try searching the existing GitHub issues for a closer match. If you cannot find one, then open a new issue with as much detail as possible.
