ChatGPT Team invite new member

We have the same issue. It popped up when I was doing training. I never imagined that a person with the “Member” role would be able to invite new members. This would be a security issue even if it didn’t charge me for the new account, which it does.

The responses that say this is a “Feature” are tone deaf. Adding a new member to a conversation like allowing MS Teams users to talk to those outside the organization is one thing but this is not the same. It is basically giving the users in my organization the power to sign the organization up to pay for new licenses.

I have read through this thread AND the two others that date back to January 2024 and were both closed with no resolution for some reason.
For those who say something akin to “You should have more control over your employees.” or “You should just fire them if they invite new people without your permission.” are tone deaf as well. I am in IT and can’t fire anyone but will have to pay for the license out of my budget. Also, most of the time this is just going to be an honest mistake. Users may not understand that inviting someone else is going to incur additional cost to the organization.

All of this aside…

This could be easily remedied with 1 toggle.
“Allow members to invite new members YES/NO” Done…

Why is this still a thing?
