Very difficult to get chatgpt to format responses the way I want them.
I’ve given it custom instructions to never use bold formatting, or numbered sections and lists. It’s to always use plain formatting for every response. To respond in conversational style and tone.
It utterly ignores these instructions and constantly returns numbered lists with bold headings and often bold for emphasis within the response as well.
I then remind it to not use bold and it apologises and uses bold in the same response.
Its very frustrating because this only started happening this week. Before then gpt4o was perfect.
The worst part is the fact it’s ignoring my instructions regarding format means it’s ignoring other things to that are more subtle than easily spotted issues such as formatting.
It just has issues following any instructions and it’s only happened recently. Feels stupider than it was last week.
