ChatGPT Mobile App cannot edit message

Hello,

I found a mobile app bug that has recently just existed.

On ChatGPT mobile app, when I edit the message, it doesn’t actually edit the message, it just send the new message.

So if I send prompt

‘This is the original message’

And I edit to be

‘This is the edited message’

But when I go and see on the web, the original message didn’t got edited, it just send the
‘This is the edited message’ right after the ‘This is the original message’

This makes the ChatGPT still get the context of
‘This is the original message’ rather than just single ‘This is the edited message’

Please fix this, thank you!

By the way, does anyone know if this might be fixed quickly or will it take as long as it did with the edit button issue? I have the same problem in mobile and it’s really anoying

I am having this bug issue as well. Tested it out and it’s occurring on both the mobile app and browser versions of ChatGPT. (Using model 4o)

Regenerating a message works fine, but editing a message of my own posts it as a new reply rather than replacing the original message.

I am ALSO noticing that this is only occurring (for me at least) in chats within a project folder, not outside of one.

Same, start noticing the problem as well, but unlike Pumpernickle, my problem is outside a project folder.

Same here. Contacted Open AI Team to but they haven’t been too helpful yet. After googling found out even others have it.

  • Upon testing: I find that this bug is on Android App only.
  • iOS sometimes but it can be fixed.
  • iPadOS is okay too.
  • Web is perfect. Only Android has issue

Just want to add my voice to the pile. I’m also experiencing this issue. Haven’t tested on different platforms, but it’s happening for me on Android.

this is happening with me too on Android!! really hope that this is only a test that will get removed soon because it’s so frustrating.

Omg i thought it was only me. I tried clearing cache, unistalling and reinstalling, everything but it is still doing it as well.

Still not fixed. Is this a global problem or only happening to certain people? It’s made me lose so much time… I’m paying for Plus and can’t even use the thing.

Edito mi mensaje y cuando lo publicó me salgo de la aplicación entró nuevamente y veo el mensaje duplicado dos veces con lo que edite.

Same issue here! On web on phone it work perfect same on pc. Only when using app(android user). The issue I noticed 3 days ago so o think it’s global issue

If you’d like to go back to your previous version, you can find it in your conversation history and continue from there.

An intended feature?. Ugh editing now would be annoying if it keeps being uppend instead of being seperated.

Tbh, nah, I think that support representative is someone not very familiar with chatgapt or just some intern or some underpaid employee or someone who doesn’t know English

It’s not intended at all. What we’re experiencing is the exact opposite of what she described as “intended”; support is just too lazy to actually read the explanation, and is copy-pasting a completely irrelevant piece of text to the issue.

Yeah, I agree. This ‘Erika’ person likely can’t even speak English, if they’re even a real person. Did you get to talk to someone else? Are you paid or free user? I wonder if they give different prio whether you’re paying them or not.

Because ios and browser has that switch edit arrow box (forgot the name is) while android doesn’t. So it gets annoying if im trying to edit and instead of creating a seperated thread. it got merged and uppen down as part of the convo. (Not a native english speaker, forgive if grammar are wrong)
