ChatGPT Mobile App cannot edit message

It will be resolved eventually. It’s a bug, not an intended feature.

No, lol que pasa es que “Erica” no ha comprendido El problema. No es una opcion permanente sino un “bug”.

It’s happening to me too.

I’m a daily ChatGPT Plus user, and this recent change to message editing is seriously ruining the experience.

Before, when I edited a message, it replaced the original—clean, elegant, fluid. Now, it sends a new message entirely, and leaves the old one sitting there like a duplicate. The flow is broken, and it feels like a downgrade.

To keep the conversation readable, because I can’t stand having both messages sit there, I now have to:
– copy my original message (the edited one)
– regenerate the bot’s last reply before I had sent that message
– paste the corrected message as if I’m sending it fresh

It clutters my clipboard and ruins the entire rhythm of creative or personal chats.

It’s not a small UX detail—it genuinely affects how this tool functions.

They should at least let us toggle it. It’s not an improvement. It’s a regression.

Support won’t fix this unless more of us speak up. That’s why we need to act.

If everyone who’s annoyed by this sends a quick message and posts a Play Store review, we might make an impact sooner.

Subject: Android App Issue: Edits Jump to End of Chat

Hello OpenAI Support,

There’s a serious issue in the ChatGPT Android app. When you edit a message in the middle of a chat, the app doesn’t update it in place — it appends the edited message to the end of the chat instead. This completely breaks the flow of the conversation.

On iOS and web, editing works as expected: it updates the message where it was. Android should behave the same way.

The issue is being actively discussed here: https://community.openai.com/t/chatgpt-mobile-app-cannot-edit-message

It’s incredibly frustrating and makes the app hard to use. Please escalate this to the dev team.

Thank you.

2. Leave a quick review on the ChatGPT app on the Play Store:

Editing messages in the middle of a chat sends them to the end instead of updating them in place. It ruins the conversation flow. iOS and web don’t have this issue — Android shouldn’t either. Please fix this.
