I really love using ChatGPT for coding using the web interface; however, the desktop app has a light gray background for code, rather than black. This makes it quite difficult to read. This needs to be adjusted to mirror the web interface.
Agreed, I’m just starting to warm up to the app because I’ve been using voice more often and prefer OpenAI’s Whisper to Apple’s built-in dictation. I don’t want to activate dark mode for my entire OS, so there should either be an option to activate dark mode in the app settings, or the backgrounds of code snippets should always be black.
I can’t agree more. Even with the dark theme, the code block’s background is still not dark enough for me. I’d love the code block’s syntax highlight and background color to be the same to the web version
I really wish there was a separate setting for the code block theme, independent of the web app’s theme.
I prefer dark code blocks (with a light theme) because they’re easier to spot when scrolling through long conversations. It also keeps things consistent for me, since I use a light theme on my Mac but stick to dark themes for all my dev-related apps.
Thank you so much, this issue makes my day a lot harder because I use light mode for my browser and dark mode on my IDE… It would also be great if they added the dark background for code blocks to the macOS app because it’s nice to be able to use the whisper voice-to-text model rather than Apple’s dictation (which i currently use on my browser).
