ChatGPT Business account did not receive the Codex 8M-user hard reset

Hey man this is my ticket number 11590322, as of now the AI chat bot keep mentioning that the business subscription are not eligible.

Would be fine if we’re not eligible but would appreciate the clarity related to this if that’s were to happened.

Thanks a lot for reaching out and helping @Prashant_Pardesi

Summary at this point

Multiple ChatGPT Business workspace users in Taiwan, Korea, and elsewhere report that neither the Codex 8M nor 9M milestone hard resets were applied, often affecting every member of their teams. Usage percentages and weekly reset dates remained unchanged, prompting questions about whether Business plans are intentionally excluded or affected by a bug. Some users are considering switching to individual subscriptions due to the lack of clarity and perceived lack of Business-plan benefits.

One user also reported that banked resets failed and a reset was lost, while others clarified that manually selecting “use reset” applies only to banked resets—not the announced milestone resets. VPN use was ruled out by at least one affected team.

EricGT clarified that forum accounts cannot be linked to ChatGPT accounts and advised contacting support@openai.com from the account’s registered email. Prashant_Pardesi confirmed that personal account details are needed to investigate, asked affected users to open support requests, and requested that case IDs be shared in the thread. Reported cases include 11590854, 11591658, and 11590322. The latter user said the support chatbot currently claims Business subscriptions are ineligible, but requested an authoritative public clarification.

Experiencing same issue, and credit still remains 0%. Already contacted help, but only get useless reply.

Hey everyone, Based on reviewing some of the tickets. There may be some confusion because there are two types of ChatGPT Codex and ChatGPT Work limit resets:

1. Global or hard resets

These reset the applicable hourly or weekly usage window directly. They do not appear as saved resets. If you continued using ChatGPT Codex or ChatGPT Work afterward, it may not be obvious that the reset was applied because the refreshed window may already show new usage.

2. Saved or banked resets

These appear as available reset credits on the ChatGPT Codex usage page and can be redeemed after reaching a usage limit.

Depending on the campaign, eligible accounts can include Plus, Pro, and ChatGPT Business users.

For Business workspaces, eligibility is evaluated per member, not for the workspace as a whole. Campaign requirements may include:

  • An active Business membership
  • A non-usage-based seat
  • Recent ChatGPT Codex or ChatGPT Work activity
  • A subscription or workspace membership active before the campaign cutoff

Some campaigns may not target promotional, discounted, newly activated, or other non-standard subscriptions. We reviewed the reported cases individually and, based on the information available, have not found evidence of unexpected behavior.

For saved resets, check: https://chatgpt.com/codex/settings/usage

Before checking, sign in with the affected email, select the correct Plus, Pro, or Business workspace, and make sure you are not viewing a Personal or Free workspace. Saved resets tied to a Business workspace will not appear in the Personal workspace. Thank you!

Thanks for the clarification.

The issue is that the campaign was communicated as including eligible Business accounts and it also worked for resets that happened prior, and this account has been active in our Business workspace for roughly six months. Similar usage patterns can also be seen across other active members of our workspace, none got a reset no matter the activity.

Because of that communication, I expected the applicable limits to be reset and continued using the account for work. The account is now at 0% remaining usage, so I am unable to use it as planned.

More importantly, this account still shows three saved resets on the usage page. I redeemed one on 15 July at around 07:00 UTC, but the usage did not reset and the credit appears to have had no effect.

I understand that eligibility may differ between campaigns, but showing a saved reset as available to an account and then having it do nothing when redeemed does not appear to be expected behavior.

I am not asking for special treatment or simply requesting more usage. I am reporting that the communication led me to rely on the reset for work, and that the saved reset displayed on the account does not function either.

@Prashant_Pardesi Thanks for helping:

Hi OpenAI Folks! @OpenAI_Support thanks for replying to this issue

As per what @Wadim_Smirnow , it’s also the same as per my understanding that we will have “HARD RESET” applied to ALL since it’s what has been communicated in the tweet.

  • “our Codex and ChatGPT Work users”
  • “We are once again resetting the usage limits for all.”

And related to the eligibility i’ve checked all of it hence why i thought it was intended to not grant the reset to business plan specific only.. So far, i’ve been using my personal banked reset since i did not received any global reset on 2 separate occasion (8th and 9th million celebration).

Can we have clarification/confirmation if in the future business account will not be eligible for the token reset anymore?

Thanks you so much for helping:

Thank you for your reply. As I understood, the 8M and 9M resets were hard resets that should have refilled the weekly limits for every paid account immediately. However, my quota was still at about 20% like the day before, and I had not used codex in the mean time (and I also did not receive a banked reset, so it’s not a matter of confusing the type of reset.)

OpenAi support has replied to my mail that they did reset my quota manually while the investigation is ongoing (thank you!), however they did not reset the quota for my other workspace member with the same issue.
(ETA: After I asked them to, they have rest the quota for my team member. )

While the thanks are appreciated, there is generally no need to use @ mentions. Each mention adds another notification to check and may also generate an additional email.

A better way to thank a specific user is to give their helpful reply a like . This shows your appreciation without creating extra notifications that must be reviewed manually.

I have an existing support case regarding this issue:

Case ID: [11515729]

My account is part of an active ChatGPT Business workspace. Neither the 8M nor the 9M announced hard reset was reflected in my Codex/ChatGPT Work weekly usage, and my quota did not change after either announcement.

Please add this case to the current investigation and have the account’s reset eligibility and usage history reviewed.

Thanks for your help!

Hi everyone — we confirmed that ChatGPT Business workspaces were inadvertently omitted from the July 14 and July 16 Codex hard resets.

We applied the corrective Business reset on July 16 at approximately 23:45 UTC (4:45 PM PDT). Business users should now have a refreshed included Codex allowance. This reset does not change workspace credit balances.

We’re sorry for the delay and confusion. If your included usage still appears unchanged, please contact Support with your existing case number.

Thanks for the update and for applying the corrective reset.

However, I don’t think this fully resolves the issue in my case. At the time of the two missed hard resets, I was already using one of my banked resets and still had about 50% of my current quota remaining. Since the corrective hard reset was only applied after that, it effectively restored only that remaining 50%.

Had the July 14 and July 16 hard resets been applied when originally announced, I would have known they were available and could have fully exhausted my allowance before each reset. In effect, I missed out on the equivalent of two full hard resets, and the delayed corrective reset did not make up for that lost usage.

So while I appreciate the fix, I don’t think it fully restores the usage that affected Business users would have had if the resets had been applied at the intended times.

same issue with me, case number: 11664718

I’d have to agree with that. Would be a wonderful gesture if affected Business accounts could at minimum get one additional banked reset as other users received two full resets on their accounts while this was being investigated. Still quite grateful this was looked into though and it seems to be resolved for the promotional reset that occurred yesterday evening.
