I’m not certain if this is a bug or an intentional design flaw, but I can’t find any way to see the text of my conversations while I’m interacting with the ChatGPT apps by voice. I’m currently using Mac OS App with GPT 4o.
I just keep getting this bouncing black blob for the voice. I’m trying to have a serious conversation with ChatGPT about a 3D design in code, but I can’t see the code or technical outputs of ChatGPT so that I can comment and correct on its results. I have to use the keyboard and turn the voice chat feature off and back on every time I need to look at the chat history, which undermines the benefit of being able to have a voice conversation.
Hoping I’m missing some toggle or setting, as ChatGPT with voice is severely broken for me with any scenario where it would return code, tables, or any other sort of structured or complex data.
I also didn’t see any indication this is fixed by the new voice mode being released soon.
Any guidance on how to resolve this issue is appreciated? Or otherwise reporting as a bug so this can be addressed in a future update.

I’m having the same problem. I use it for bouncing ideas off of somebody while in the car, but it would be nice to revisit old ideas later.
Maybe I’m using GPT wrong but I’ve never been able to see any content while I’m actively speaking with ChatGPT. On a mobile device, I’ll close the chat blob screen, review the content ChatGPT provided, and select the headphones icon to re-engage the voice chat.
On desktop, I will have the MacApp open AND the same chat thread open on my browser. After ChatGPT as provided a response, I can refresh the browser page and view the content ChatGPT has provided while remaining in the voice chat mode on the MacApp. Occasionally, if I refresh the page too soon, I’ll get loading error on the browser but I just refresh until the information appears.
Is there a way to have the information generated during the voice chat displayed in in -realtime that I’m not aware of?
Any news from the dev team?
Hi,
I am having the same problem. This is really annoying, especially if I have a conversation and gpt draws something or adds a link…
Any tips besides having the conversation open in a browser window and refreshing?
Hello. I also have same issue. For instance it is really useful when learning a language to see how words are written. Is there any way to see the text while using voice in ChatGPT?
