I have paid for chatgpt API for 20$ in April 24. I have hardly used the credit in mentioned month.
Will my credit get expired after the end of this month or will it get carry forward for the next month?
and if it gets carry forward to next month, what will be the expiry of that unused credit?

If the amount was something other than $20, the topic here would be clear.
First of all, let’s make a distinction: ChatGPT is not API. ChatGPT is the web chatbot at chat.openai.com that you interact with in a web page. It has a monthly subscription to ChatGPT Plus for $20/mo, which auto-renews until cancelled.
The OpenAI API instead is not a subscription. It allows you access to data models where you pay for the actual usage. Nothing there is called ChatGPT.
So, I suspect you are prepaying for API credits. They expire after one year from the purchase date.
You can view the credit purchases and their individual expiration dates by following this link:

Because of the new “projects” view, you’ll need to click on “view monthly bill for the whole organization” arrow to expand the right box that shows more about payments and credits.
The particular way the expiration is done is at the end of the month, so you actually get 12-13 months before your unused purchase is taken from you.
