Hello,
I’m writing to request a feature that I believe would greatly benefit users like myself who use ChatGPT for both personal and professional purposes.
Currently, there is no way to separate personal and work-related conversations within a single account. This creates a difficult situation, especially when one uses different devices (e.g., a personal phone and a work computer) or needs to maintain strict privacy due to personal circumstances. As a result, many of us are forced to use multiple accounts — one for work and one for personal use — which leads to several issues:
- Context and memory are not shared between accounts, making it difficult to maintain continuity in conversations.
- Subscriptions are tied to individual accounts, which means paying for Plus on both accounts becomes financially burdensome.
- There is no way to protect sensitive or private chats from being accessed on shared or work devices.
- In my case, I cannot safely use my personal conversations on my work account due to concerns about privacy. Unfortunately, this limits how much I can use the service when I need it most.
A possible solution:
Adding features like folder separation (e.g., personal vs work), password- or PIN-protected chats, or even the ability to assign conversations a privacy level, could help solve this. Alternatively, allowing multiple profiles under one account — each with separate memory and chat history — would be a powerful and user-friendly solution.
I hope you’ll consider implementing features like this in the future. ChatGPT has become a crucial support tool in my life, and improving its usability in situations like mine would mean a lot.
Thank you for your time and for creating such a valuable service.
