OpenAI does not do anything beside destroying their own company. It’s so *** slow even my nephew of age 5 can code faster >_<

Wish I had been clever enough to find this thread before swearing over GPT-4 for the last week or so. Have been using it to create descriptions from product images. Fast and creative to start with but getting worse and worse, GPT-4 forgetting prompt details and writing styles, and then more and more refusing to analyze, saying that “…as an OpenAI bla bla I am not able to…” and then after bargaining and a few exclamation points it is back to analyzing. 1-3 images later it refuses again. Was afraid it would forget all the learning if starting a new chat, but it does retain, if not all, quite a lot of the knowledge of my requirements it has acquired.
So after starting a new chat, speed was back to normal, although already after 10 images or so I can see that the creativeness and uniqueness of the descriptions are starting to degrade, GPT-4 falling back to repetitive answers.
Even though this functionality is pretty amazing in its own right, I would have expected more from a paid service.

Very slow, even when just opened. CPU goes to 100% for 26 seconds for every reply. Profiling in devtools shows 98% of the time is spent in recomputeConversationTurnsForCurrentLeafId

The “plugin mode” worked for a while. Now that one is busted as well.

For a paid service it’s terribly slow and with frequent errors. What are alternatives?

I am facing the same lagging especially with the visual DALLE 3. I just closed the browser and toggle to another browser, switching between Chrome and Firefox. Seems to work for me. Sometimes it persistence with error. I have to continuously close window, restart app and switch to other browser and regenerate again. Must be the high demand or maybe to clear browser cache?
Analyzing visual complication graphs like Ethereum had me amused by its capabilities.
Slow like hell. Can’t do anything on GPT-4 paid version but GPT 3.5 is a bullet. WTF

mine too, everytime i ask a question the site lags, compared to the past i can see the text generating, however these days recently it has been very laggy and unable to load, and when i reload the site, the reply would be cut off, if i generate another reply from them, my screen would stop from the site and would not move unless its being reloaded. oftentimes when i reload the site it says error, im almost close to giving up hahahahaha.
It’s a nightmare to want to work with ChatGPT these days. Requests take minutes to deliver, when they were usually delivered in seconds. I have come to wait 10 minutes for an answer as simple as writing a slogan.
I know it has something to do with browsers on PC, as the ChatGPT iOS app is not slow, it delivers responses relatively fast compared to PC.
I pay for ChatGPT Plus precisely to speed this up but it’s still slow. I have looked for a solution but I can’t find it.
My productivity has decreased as the platform is too slow to the point that it becomes impossible to work.
I’m glad I’m not the only one.
Answers getting blocked before full completion, sometimes not even getting answers at all…
The $20 per month subscription was perfect until a couple weeks ago, but GPT 4 is purely broken at the moment for me.

I really used ChatGPT a lot, it’s so annoying that a paid service is not working anymore.
Do u people here have found already good alternatives? I’m ready to cancel my subscription and give the competitors a try.

Same here in latest Firefox. Refreshing doesn’t even guarantee a reply, sometimes only the regenerate button appears. Also all new chat titles aren’t even written, just “New chat” over and over again. Frontend completely broken.
complete nightmare, payingfor the team membership. takes age to write a reply, and 99% of the time get network error.
tried many different browsers, different ip’s…etc… no luck 
I am experiencing the same issues. And am looking for an alternative as I can’t continue to use ChatGPT with such a lag.
I can confirm the issue is ongoing and switching to plugin does solve this issue temporarily, but I need the Dalle capabilities and this is getting slower by day.
Another workaround is at the start of chat you tell it to not use Dall-e or browsing.

Months later, in January 2024: I’m creating banners for my book’s chapters & it’s painfully slow (Using ChatGPT4)
But, many of the results are breathtaking… it usually takes a few back & forths with ChatGPT4, and each attempt takes several minutes. Even the text flow is jarring
I have been checking response times in abandoned long conversations, and they have improved recently, so I am starting to revive old threads and continue them.
