I see that macOS has the ability to do this, but why hasn’t it been added to Windows? For those of us who use ChatGPT Classic for basic conversational purposes, then Codex (now “ChatGPT”, with the same icon), it gets very confusing in our taskbar. I’d really like to be able to use the old Codex icon again.
You can change the icon of a desktop shortcut by right-clicking it, selecting Properties → Shortcut → Change Icon. However, if you’re referring to the icon shown for the running ChatGPT desktop app on the Windows taskbar, changing the shortcut may not affect it because the app controls its own taskbar icon. At the moment, there doesn’t appear to be an official setting to use the old Codex icon on Windows.
