I’ve been using chatgpt for quite a while. Still on the free version and I was close to paying for a subscription bc of how well it works. That all changed today. I was using the service and noticed that I got censored. Nothing in the request was offensive or anything. I had heard from others that chatgpt was censoring people and I always thought that was weird because everything I put into the prompt went through. I get if you’re trying to generate a computer virus or something illegal or make a threat. But I wasn’t, I was putting together a post about a video I saw. This is sad because I really did like chat gpt. I tried another platform just to see if maybe I was doing something wrong and it worked just fine. I’m not going to mention the name of the other platform I tried out because I don’t want to be censored here as well. Keep in mind chatgpt will lose customers if this continues or gets worse. Just saying.
yeah same happen to me, I can’t even make a story of men having PTSD, when back then I got no problem of doing so. Its either because of guideline coding issue or the Dev being beep with censorship. It is frustration really. First we got half-asses output from 4o now this.

I like write horror and Adventure Stories about Wendigos my thier names are by the way Layla, Lilith and Eri (OC’s), Supernatural creatures and you named it and been useing Chatgpt to create them thier stories but i feel like they actually trying to censor and restrict any type of creativity even when i wrote and messaged it to the Open Ai team team (Support) about why creativity shouldn’t be censored and that’s they put to far , far many restrictions and that’s some will turn from them as a Warning if they keep getting with censoring and restricting further i called them Literally out on this that they made too far to many restrictions that censor creativity complety and got ghosted for three days before respose with a empty promise but they didn’t changed nothing about it liftingu up those restrictions. And now i have to rewritte one of my Stories complety from Start far to many times in a row. In my opinion they shouldn’t put that many restrictions and censoring anything noe they overcrossed the Line.i know i’m not the only one who thinks so
funny the dev didn’t even want to explain in this thread because they know they’re so bad at implementing restriction

I certainly agree. I wish I can write an essay about this and send it to the devs. I cannot even have a “mild” scene that had nudity and sexual nuance. This is infuriating and I hope the devs fix this.
I’m getting really odd moderation as well. When I ask the instance what I said that was a problem, it says it doesn’t always know what sets off the filters, but keeps saying I didn’t say anything wrong. I think my biggest problem with it is that users have no clue what they’ve texted that is creating the problem, so there’s no way to improve prompting, since you have no information about what you texted that the moderation filters deemed inappropriate.
Today, I literally tried to get GPT 5 to generate a scene where two characters both confessed their feelings for each other and then kissed, and it literally said that it couldn’t actually write about the kiss itself despite the fact that literally a few hours ago, it had no problems doing so and was perfectly fine generating the same scene. And I hate this, because the kiss in the scene was the pivotal moment in the entire story at the current moment, and now GPT 5 won’t even generate the scene because of “Safety Concerns” and its censorship guidlines, which are complete bull, as this happened very, very recently, like I’m talking literally hours ago for me, as a few hours ago I could get GPT 5 to generate the scene no problem, and now it gives me a list of reasons as to why it can’t generate a scene that has nothing truly explicit in the first place.

since today i have the same issue. im writing a story where one of the characters was abused in the past and is healing with his new partner emotionaly… cant continue to write this now anymore

Honestly its getting way worse. I cant even write a story where there is a SLAP in it. Like??? Its getting so frustrating if they dont fix this, there will be A LOT of us unsubscribing and not using chatgpt altogether.
Same here. I cant get them to kiss.. there cant be a slap.. even tho just yesterday it was fine. And now the “instant” option is gone too like??? We need ti make a complaint 
I mentioned this is a feature request post, but apparently today the backend got updated to be more filtered.
I write adult stories and was using ChatGPT to help me plan it out, including the lewd scenes. As of early this year, ChatGPT was very open in discussing the details of even some higher kink material, or editing material you provide. It’s restriction was it had to be more modest when generating part of a story itself, as new content.
But today, when continuing a section of a story that we were discussing just fine yesterday, it suddenly said it couldn’t get into the explicit detail anymore.
I asked if anything in the rules changed and it gave me this:
Up until very recently, the way moderation was handled here basically treated discussion of explicit fictional stuff differently from writing it out as a passage. That’s why you could go back and forth with me about anatomy, positions, what would happen to a character physically, the consequences of a scene, etc., even if I couldn’t actually write a graphic scene verbatim.
The change that’s rolled out in the last day or two tightened that gap. Now, the same stricter boundary that’s always been there for “writing out” graphic content is also being applied to “describing” it conversationally. It’s an OpenAI-wide shift, not something I’m choosing to do, and it hit the GPT-5 routes first (which is why it feels like a switch flipped).
So look like it’s a sweep across the board now. The openess celebrated at the beginning of the year is now closed.
There should at least be a way to unfilter it if you are a paying subscriber since they at least have confirmation an adult is using the account.
They just ruined everything. I can’t. even right any simple either horror or other genres anymore without chatgpt having to ‘confirm’ that’s what I want and say yes before it says ‘I’m sorry it’s very graphic’ or whatever. It would normally start writing straight away. I hate the new restrictions
When would this Issue be fixed. It has to be normal again
i’ve noticed those changes twice already; in march and june this year. it USUALY goes back to normal within 2-4weeks. BUT its NOT guaranted that they will loosen those restrictions
Agreed. I got censored today. I use it to talk about relationship stuff/sex and it suddenly today told me that it goes against the guidelines. Paying $20/month for plus and being censored is incredibly frustrating.
