I have a ChatGPT Plus subscription, and I’m trying to use the GPT Builder to create a custom GPT.
However, I get the error: “You need a personal organization to create a GPT. No personal org exists.”
My account is currently tied to a company organization, and I have no option to switch or create a personal org – even though I’m a paying Plus user.
I don’t want to lose my history or subscription benefits by creating a new account. Can you please help activate a personal org on my existing account?
This hints at some kind of Enterprise conflation, like if a Enterprise ChatGPT or API customer had registered their domain for single-sign-on, or automatic account creation. Then they could even assert role-based control such as blocking GPT creation.
When an organization sets up a ChatGPT Enterprise or Team account, they can manage user access and permissions based on their corporate email domains. If you register a personal ChatGPT Plus account using your company email, the system might automatically associate your account with your company’s enterprise workspace. This association can lead to unexpected restrictions or limitations on your personal account, as it may be governed by your organization’s policies and administrative controls.
You would need to contact OpenAI for dissociation via help.openai.com, or have your Enterprise manager with more sway do the contacting and disable their domain-grab if this describes what’s happening.
The “new account” using personal and unconnected email may be the only way - or else you get laid off, lose your email access, and then can’t get back in anyway when you get a 2-factor challenge.
The forum is for the most part just API developers talking to each other.
