Once upon a time, in the faraway Kingdom of Elfistan, there was a king who was very angry at a woman named Rose because she had once refused to marry him and she refused his red rose. Out of his anger, he made a strict rule: no girl in the kingdom could be named “Rose,” and no one was allowed to grow red roses. Only blue roses were allowed. He even forced everyone named Rose to change their names.
But there was one girl who was still secretly called Rose. The person who dared to call her by that name was none other than the king’s own son. The young prince loved Rose, and they met in secret to be together.
One day, at their usual meeting place, the prince got down on one knee and asked Rose to marry him. With a loud voice, he said, “Rose, I love you!”
However, the king’s soldiers were hiding nearby and heard everything. They quickly captured both Rose and the prince, separating them forever. Rose refused to change her name, so the king sent her far away to the northwest. The prince was exiled to the northeast. To make sure their love was forgotten, the king ordered all the blue roses in the kingdom to be destroyed. After that, no roses—red or blue—were left.
For many years, Rose and the prince searched for each other, never giving up. But as time passed, they started to lose hope.
Just when they were about to give up, something magical happened. On the same night, they both had the exact same dream.
In their dream, they were trapped in deep snow, freezing and unable to move.
Just when it seemed like there was no escape, a wise elderly Maasai grandmother appeared and spoke to them:
“Look for the burning red roses… A wise turtle will leave them along your path. Follow these roses. They will pull you toward each other like a magnet. Your feet will walk on their own until you meet again. And until you find each other, the roses will never stop burning…”
When they woke up, they felt hopeful again. So, they set out on their journey once more. And…
And…reuniting…
