Bug with the Subscription pay by apple pay

Preconditions :

  1. Account Apple/iCloud is deactivated for the OpenAI
  2. Create another Account using any email e.g(Gmail)

Steps:

  1. Login with a Gmail account for the ChatGPT
  2. Click on subscribe with Chatgpt plus
  3. Pay with the Apple pay
  4. Verify the subscription
    Actual Results: The Subscription added to the deactivated account (Apple account)
    Expected Result : The payment should be done for the logged in account (Gmail)

I have been dealing with this issue for five to six months. At work, our company underwent a name change and issued new email addresses, deactivating all old ones. Since losing access to my previous work email, I haven’t been able to use my ChatGPT Pro subscription with any email address because the subscription is tied to my Apple ID in the App Store. While ChatGPT’s customer service has been responsive via email, their only proposed solution is to create a new iCloud account that has never been associated with any other email addresses."​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​

I’ve encountered a similar issue.

Problem

On iOS, I attempted to subscribe to ChatGPT Plus using App Store balance for target account A. Despite logging into A in the app, the subscription erroneously linked to my deprecated old account B (permanently deleted. After payment, iOS prompted “Error, this subscription is associated with another OpenAI account”).

App Store deducted funds, but account A didn’t activate Plus. I tried twice, last on Sep 10th, both failed.

Steps to Reproduce:

  1. iOS device with App Store balance.
  2. Log into account A in ChatGPT app.
  3. Click “Upgrade to Plus” and pay.
  4. Post-payment, iOS prompts “Error, this subscription is associated with another OpenAI account.”
  5. App Store balance deducted; account A lacks Plus.
