[Bug] ChatGPT macOS App - Issue with "Check for Updates" button not responding

Hi team,

I’m currently experiencing an issue with the Chat GPT for macOS, where the “Check for Updates…” button doesn’t respond when clicked. As a result, I’m unable to verify or download the latest version of the app.

Steps I’ve tried so far:

  • Restarting the application
  • Restarting the Mac
  • Checking my internet connection

Both the menu bar button in “ChatGPT” and the settings button in “App” are not working.

Thank you in advance!

  • MacBook Pro 14-inch, M1 Pro
  • macOS Sonoma 14.7.1
  • ChatGPT version 1.2024.317 (1731962521)

I have the same issue. Did you manage to fix it?

Same issue here as well. I badly need to update since there is lag in the response of the GPT for any operation. Web version works fine though.

Sadly, still not working.
Random popup shown in the above the window only works.

I was having the same issue, and found this question, but there was no answer :frowning:

So, I quit the application, but I could still see some things running with ps…

$ ps axu | grep -i chat

I killed everything that looked like it had anything to do with ChatGPT, and then restarted the application. I was then able to update. However, after updating to the most recent version, I still didn’t see the projects feature enabled. I think this is because it went through two updates.

Anyway, I repeated the same process. Exit tha app, then went and looked, and found some more processes running with the ChatGPT name, so I killed them.

Then, ipon restarting the ChatGPT app, I was able to access the Check for Updates feature, and I was also able to see my projects in the tab on the left.

Hope that helps.

This fixed it for me too.
