I have an issue with the batch API. I submitted a request 5 days ago. The request was to generate 4562 images. Relatively quickly (after 1h) the request went to finalizing, with 40 requests failed and the 4522 others completed. The batch request is stuck in this status since. I’ve previously made the same request but with smaller (200) batch size and succeeded without issue many times. It’s only when I increased the batch size that I’ve gotten in this situation.
I have contacted the support but gotten contradictory feedback.
In one case I was told to cancel the request, but the UI doesn’t allow this and via API I’m getting ConflictError: 409 Cannot cancel a batch with status 'finalizing'.
Another agent told me to wait 24h more hours and that passed that point they would start investigating but I haven’t got any feedback since.
Finally I asked if I could be reissued the API credits - in order to resend the request with smaller batch size - and another agent told that it was contrary to their terms to reimburse failed API request (https://openai.com/policies/service-credit-terms/). I find this very weird as the FAQ says that after 24h the request should be cancelled and only successful work should be billed (https://help.openai.com/en/articles/9197833-batch-api-faq#h_c14623b369)
Given that this single request cost >100$ I’m a little bit worried about continuing using this API if there is no guarantee not to be billed for failed request…
Is there something I can do get the output of this request?
