ChatGPT’s new behavior of automatically turning very long pasted text into a file is genuinely useful because it keeps the conversation much cleaner.
One issue I noticed is that the generated files are named generically, for example:
Pasted text.txt
Pasted text(1).txt
Pasted text(2).txt
Once several of these files exist in the same conversation, it becomes difficult to tell which file contains what without opening each one.
I suggest automatically generating a meaningful filename from the content.
For example, ChatGPT could use:
- the first heading;
- the first meaningful sentence; or
- a short AI-generated title based on the contents.
Instead of:
Pasted text(3).txt
it could become something like:
Axiom AppSec Integration Review.txt
or
Mission 003 Implementation Notes.txt
This would preserve the benefit of automatically packaging long text while making the files much easier to identify, reference, download, and manage later.
A fallback to the existing numbered naming system could still be used when ChatGPT cannot confidently determine a useful title.
