Assistants API Update coming soon?

Hello everyone!

I would really appreciate it if anyone has any word at all - even rumours - about when the next update is coming to the Assistants API? I’m about to create a fine-tuned Assistant (the fine-tuning is essential) and the only way for me to do so is using the only available combination of both - version 3.5. That’s… a bit of a sting. The Assistants API went into Beta last April. Surely we’re due an update soon? Maybe even very soon? I might just be dreaming aha. I was really hoping one of the twelve days of OpenAI was this to be honest! But oh well aha. I doubt there are many others that want this more than 4 o3.

If anyone can shed any light on this I’d really appreciate it. Debating whether to be patient and wait it out a few more months in the hope that it’s released and I can fine-tune my assistant straight on 4 - even without the latest models just 4 itself - I’d be more than happy with that. I really hope someone out there has some info!

Given that they just had their big release session, which included releases big and small, available or not, and there was no mention of the Assistants API, it seems very unlikely that we would hear anything new soon.

On the contrary, I think it reinforces the sentiment that this API is kinda’ dead - that it will never graduate past its current beta status.

There was an AMA recently in which numerous times the OpenAI staff said: “Next year”.

If I was to sprinkle some speculation on top of it I would say that we’ll see some interesting updates with Assistants, or, perhaps: Agents
