Assistants AI Playground doesn`t understand knowlege files as well as custom GPTs

If the file is attached with a message on the thread, user has to indicate that they want the question answered from the attached file.

Assistants not retrieving given data properly with code_interpreter

Is the assistant opening the file and calling code interpreter? If not, the model will hallucinate a response. You can try prompting it to say something like “Open the file and answer the question: where did he study?”

I agree with the part where playground gives feedback that the file was referred by providing something like [1] which when hovered over reveals the file ID even when retrieval isn’t run, is likely a bug.
