Are Fine-Tuned models walled off OR is it safe to use IP for training fine-tuning models?

I am experimenting with fine-tuning and would like to use my company’s IP content to do the training. However, I’m unsure if that’s safe/wise because we wouldn’t want our IP getting included in future models or being accessible to others. I’ve looked around a bit and couldn’t find any documentation on how training data is used outside of the initial training. Does anyone have any insight on this?

OpenAI states:

  1. OpenAI will not use data submitted by customers via our API to train or improve our models, unless you explicitly decide to share your data with us for this purpose. You can opt-in to share data.
  2. Any data sent through the API will be retained for abuse and misuse monitoring purposes for a maximum of 30 days, after which it will be deleted (unless otherwise required by law).
