I have gone to openai and you tell me that I have not. I do not know how to get past this to use their program.
What am I doing wrong?
I am new to this chatgpt but do I have to pay to use the free chat? If so, how many times can I ask chat a question before it wants to charge me?

Welcome @ktirona

Sharing API key with 3rd parties is against the Business ToS as it compromises the safety of your API key.

I’d recommend reading the API key safety best practices.

If you want to simply chat with GPT models, chatgpt.com is available for free usage in supported countries.

The error message shown isn’t even responded to in the email.

It is likely the software cannot accept a modern OpenAI API key from what is displayed in that user interface screenshot — and it is a good thing for you that it only displays a truncated version and you have not funded the API key’s account, like required, before posting your credentials publicly.

The SEO spam from this organization, along with false promises of money making pyramid scheme alone, lets you know to steer clear. That is, if the software itself isn’t a credential-stealer.

that is useful information. thank you . As I said myself like many others are new to AI and thought the purchased programs would be useful. I do not want to go against OpenAI rules, but I want to learn how to use it to of course, make money. I will read more about this API key before I get into real trouble.
Again, Thank you

Two places I’d recommend are…

  1. Quickstart guide…

https://platform.openai.com/docs/quickstart

  1. OpenAI Cookbook…

OpenAI generally keeps the API reference and docs up to date. They’re loading a bit funky o Firefox these days, though, I’ve noticed.

And feel free to stick around if you have any specific questions or run into any problems… or just want an opinion on whether something is safe or not.

Scary. Do not share your API key with third parties lest you end up with huge bills you cannot afford to pay.
