I’m watching “Her” today. Rented it for 2$ on YouTube.
AI isn’t the focal point of this show, but it might be the best Sci-Fi I’ve seen in a while. An AI Robot comes into contact with biological material on an alien world… and evolves a bit… I’m only about halfway through the first season, but I’m really enjoying it…

Murderbot! LOL, looks like a funny sci-fi, just my kind of show! Starts in a couple days too.
First episode was “rougher” than the trailer, but good enough to give second episode a try. Got a little better, and I’ll likely continue following along. Got a smile out of me in a few places! Pacing is pretty good too…
There was an interesting TV series called Person of Interest, about an omnipresent AI that was “closed sourced” by its creator to protect it from being manipulated.

I couldn’t get into POI personally. The premise is interesting to me, but I found the show lacking after a couple episodes. Maybe I should give it another chance.
I can see how it was not for everyone, it was kind of a repetitive investigation series most of the time.
It had a few interesting ideas, but the sci-fi plot was not explored in much detail.
Like when in one episode, to prevent the AI from “achieving AGI”, its memory was forcefully reseted everyday. But the AI found a very creative way to solve that by hiring real people to print its data (in real paper) and type all back into a terminal the next day. Arguable in many ways, but kind of amusing considering the year it was filmed.
Nowadays that people are discussing a lot of philosophical aspects of AI development, I’m surprised this series is rarely remembered.
That might’ve been what turned me off maybe? Hrm…
The idea does sound interesting. The show came out way before “Attention is All you Need” in 2026, didn’t it?
Yeah, it was way before all the “transformers” thing appeared…
That might be an interesting study/article… how did old AI predictions get it wrong… and how did they get it right?
