Add Timestamps to Chat Messages

Dear OpenAI Team,

I would like to suggest a timestamp feature for ChatGPT messages. This would allow each message to include the date and time it was sent.

Why is this useful?

:one: Better conversation tracking – Helps users follow discussions in long conversations.

:two: Professional & enterprise use – Useful for businesses, teams, and documentation.

:three: Improved user experience – Makes it easier to resume chats after a break.

This feature could be optional in settings, so users can enable or disable timestamps based on their preference.

I believe this would enhance usability for many users. Looking forward to hearing your thoughts!

absolutely! I just asked chatgpt to tell me the days and times of each of my chats for the last 30 days and it did return them correctly. but i need to keep track manually, and also don’t have the days/times for each message. Having this information included in the chat, or the sidebar, would be extremely helpful

Timestamps are also necessary to track hours for anyone working on the clock. GDoc history is very useful that way.
