I’d like to suggest adding an archive feature for ChatGPT Projects, similar to the existing option for individual conversations.
Currently, users can archive chats, but there’s no equivalent option for entire Projects. This makes it difficult to keep the sidebar organized without permanently deleting projects that are completed or temporarily inactive.
Suggested features:
- Archive entire Projects without losing conversations, uploaded files, or custom instructions.
- Add a dedicated “Archived Projects” section.
- Allow users to restore archived Projects at any time.
- Keep archived Projects hidden from the main sidebar.
Why this matters:
Many users manage multiple long-term projects in ChatGPT. Not every project needs to remain active or visible, but that doesn’t mean its contents should be deleted.
Archiving would provide a simple way to declutter the workspace while preserving valuable work for future reference.
This would be a small but meaningful quality-of-life improvement for anyone who uses ChatGPT Projects regularly.
