As of August 18, 2026, I cannot access files from the Sources sections of multiple unrelated ChatGPT Projects or from my ChatGPT Library.
The Library still displays the files and filenames, but I cannot preview, open, download, or add any Library file to a new chat. The failure occurs in both Chrome and Microsoft Edge and affects multiple projects, files, and file types.
A controlled, read-only diagnostic through ChatGPT Work successfully retrieved two affected Library files through an alternative authenticated Library-access route. Both copies downloaded correctly. This establishes that at least those underlying files still exist, while the ordinary Library and Project Sources interfaces cannot retrieve them.
I reported the problem through OpenAI’s Help Center and was told that an account specialist might respond in a couple of days. I then supplied a detailed escalation report documenting the account-wide failure, the unsuccessful cross-browser testing, and the successful alternative retrieval. I expressly requested a case number, immediate engineering escalation, confirmation of that escalation, and preservation of all files and associated records.
Despite repeated follow-up attempts, I have received no case number, no acknowledgment from a human representative, and no confirmation that engineering has been notified. The updated information appears simply to be sitting in a routine support queue awaiting a response that may not arrive for several days. Given that this incident prevents access to important professional work product across multiple Projects and the entire Library, that response is inadequate.
OpenAI’s public status page currently reports that its systems are fully operational. This may therefore be an unrecognized partial incident or an account-specific file-resolution or authorization failure.
Is anyone else currently experiencing this account-wide Library or Project Sources failure? OpenAI staff attention is urgently requested, both to investigate the technical failure and to ensure that the support report receives immediate engineering review.
