Ability to integrate github projects in chat

It would be great if it was possible to import github project in chat similar to what Claude has currently, browsing repo and choose which folders you would like to share for optimizing tokens

+1. This is still missing from the current GitHub integration.

More specifically, it would be useful to have GitHub Projects v2 support: project metadata, items, fields, field values, and the Issues/PRs/Draft Issues associated with those items.

The current GitHub connector can access repositories, issues, and PRs, but not the Project v2 board itself. That means ChatGPT can inspect the code and individual work items but cannot see the project’s planning context—status, priority, iteration, roadmap structure, etc.

GitHub’s official MCP server already exposes Projects v2 operations, so this appears technically feasible. Read-only access would already be a significant improvement; project write operations could be added separately later.

Hey quantalfox! Thanks for clarifying why the Projects v2 planning context matters.

GitHub repository access is already available on supported plans and surfaces. You can select authorized repositories and ask about specific file paths. See Connecting GitHub to ChatGPT.

That doesn’t cover the folder-selection interface or Projects v2 board access you’re requesting. We’ll log both suggestions, including read-only access to project items, custom fields, and linked issues and PRs. We can’t promise implementation or a timeline.
