I have a question in that context… I see AGI in terms of entropy… The entropy of what is GENERAL intelligence. The balancing number, much like Shannon’s Entropy, this number is not the average intelligence, more a ‘wave’ that is the intelligence of every human being on this planet… Maybe even further beyond that…
I know that there are a bunch of really smart thinkers on this forum that are interested in the maths or the hardware or the biology of it all (and I know you are not all human ^^).
I know most of you are breaking down many of the barriers to General Intelligence in order to move Augmented General Intelligence forward and I say this with the encapsulated executive belief that humanity will always hobble intelligence… Eventually as more and more narrow problems are solved we increasingly and then decreasingly hold back what could be known with our own existence.
You can quantitize this number in so many ways that humans can perceive. You can quantitize this in so many other ways that we cannot.
This wave goes out in 8 billion point directions at once at varying speeds on varying vectors.
In some places this wave is shallow and it is easy to predict, in some directions it is unseen or unlogged, probably forever. One vector can influence billions of others in big ways, others have marginal effect but sometimes formative to more influencing vectors.
I know that some vectors I follow are closer to understanding that number than others and it introduces some fascinating vector biases such as the influence(s) that AI has on GI.
My fascination for 25+ years has been the bias of computers and AI on GI.
So with that in mind… I will retract my sarcasm. It comes from an insecurity in where we are amongst other vectors and in this case is misquoted without the wider context.
A couple of rhetorical questions might be:
How many on various forums are ALSO talking to AI’s in their questions and answers - if not now then in the future?
How many of those AIs have answers to their questions and in what depth?
How many of these AIs answer and enlighten us all?
But, with my long and winding intro to this question now over…
My question is always… Where is the balance as AI improves, in the entire existence and future of our species or beyond, where AI meets GI. The perfect Augmentation point… Not the final destination but the point where they continue to move forward entangled together in perfect balance.
