I’ve recently noticed that when you submit a question to ChatGPT, the input field loses focus, and to provide a follow up question you have to click in the input field again. This is super-annoying.
What is the rationale behind this?

Oh my GOD, for real! This is utterly infuriating. Especially if you are a poor sap like me who types fast, but looks at the keyboard at the same time.
A dozen times now I have been typing away to nowhere because Chat GPT drops focus on the input field.
Let’s get this fixed…PLEASE!
I’m not on the desktop right now, so I can’t check, but where does focus go? Does tab bring it back?
If nothing else a simple userscript can keep focus there.
A lot of people tried to Automate ChatGPT with scrips/extensions/etc… So, while I’m not 100% sure, it might be related to security measures…
Just tested and focus is staying for me. Are you trying to automate somehow?
FIX THIS CRAP! It’s almost 2026.
NO, Tab does not bring it back.
I’m pretty sure this can’t take more than 10 minutes to fix. Wake up developers of ChatGPT and fix this already. It’s 2 years already. Earn your high salary.
Please, for the love of god, fix this!
I had the same problem on MacOS. I fixed it with an older version of ChatGPT 1.2025.252.
