Why Are We Talking About Forums in the AI Age?

We live in the AI era, where even developer feedback can be handled by simply talking to GPT. Developers can now have their technical discussions or share feedback without needing to post on forums or wait for answers.

When you talk to GPT, the conversation is automatically archived in real time, and that information can be instantly retrieved when needed. Real-time feedback and automated solutions are possible, and the conversation is easily saved and managed in the system.

Why bother with forums, message boards, or emails in this age?

With AI capable of real-time analysis and providing immediate solutions, why would we still rely on the slow process of posting questions and waiting for responses on forums?
Now, AI analyzes the problem instantly and delivers the solution immediately, making the old-fashioned forum and email systems obsolete.

Feedback obtained through GPT conversations is direct and efficient. AI continuously improves based on user feedback, so going forward, AI-driven real-time feedback systems will replace the outdated and inefficient forum systems.

In the AI era, forums and message boards are inefficient and outdated. It’s time for a new system where you can solve problems instantly through AI and archive those conversations to provide immediate solutions to other users. This is the future of knowledge management in the AI age.

It’s a tricky problem, for sure.

Is 50% authored by AI OK in tomorrows world, 10%, 90%? Does it matter? Is the content the only thing that really matters?

On the one hand AI should help a far wider range of people to interact in terms of translation and generally understanding each other…

On the other human nature may mean that people use AI to game forums and their human members

Well I was being sarcastic with OP posting an AI made text about not needing forums.

Forums are mostly about seeking ways to interact with other people and sharing opinions, so I think even AGI can’t shut down forums and other types of social communities.

I wonder how much of AI has learnt from forums, if AI has been trained on forum data dont you think AI could still benefit from forums?. Heres how I see it, use AI for quick response, use forums where AI cannot help, retrain AI on updated forums.

Currently, the main reason is information latency.

A models training data is sometimes older than the current issue under discusion, meaning that any response will nessesarily be either deduced or potentially hallucinated. You could augment that with some RAG varient and indeed that is being used in some fields.

OpenAI has chosen to have a human element to the support services to help bridge the information lag, hopefully we will soon have some support bots here that can also provide help to augment the work the community does. All part of the evolution of support.

My main question is, will forums still be necessary today or in the near future (5 y)?
If AI learns from multiple repositories and answers questions much faster than a human, what is the value of maintaining forums?
Will it be a place for opinion discussion only? What about technical issues users help each other? In very specific scenarios, will forums be needed?

I keep asking myself the same question, but the answer escapes me—and here’s why: If what you just said is true, then why did the CEO of Facebook spend so much money poaching talent from OpenAI? Couldn’t they have just used AI instead of needing those people?
