'Verify you are human' puzzle each time I ask a question to chatGPT!

For me what was the solution was actually using VPN.
I chose a VPN connection to a neighbouring country, in the same time zone as my country, and that solved it… :woman_shrugging:

Can someone from OpenAI comment on this? I’m getting this issue in GPT 3.5 (free version) (in Safari) since yesterday and it doesn’t matter if I use VPN (in the same country and same timezone) or don’t use VPN. I’m even running into this issue when I login - during the login itself…
It basically makes ChatGPT totally useless.

The reply above that this is just business as usual to limit bot access also is incomplete. and incorrect. The behavior of the website changed very recently. Even when I try to submit written feedback on a reply, I’m prompted now (and in this scenario, it prevents both the feedback AND solving the puzzle…so that’s yet another bug that is introduced here: When both the feedback popup is open and the puzzle prompt, neither of them is responsive.)

The issue seems to be specific to Safari (I’m using v17.0), when I switch to Chrome it doesn’t happen. However my Safari was not updated recently, so I assume the issue is caused by a change in the OpenAI website code.

This is insane. I’ve been using the free version for a while, on Chrome. NEVER had to solve a puzzle. But since last week EVERY TIME I ask a question I have to solve some stupid puzzle. Worse, I notice that some paid accounts face this. WTH? Please fix this! No excuses, that ship has sailed. :face_with_diagonal_mouth:

Well…My desktop computer. Using Google chrome, version 119.0.6045.105 under Linux manjaro. Each time ask something to free version chatgpt 3.5, the system oblige me to resolve a puzzle. Same desktop using Brave browser version 1.59.120 Chromium: 118.0.5993.88. Not issue at all…Something is wrong with my google chrome…

Same problem… has tried to change time zone on my PC, change another browser, change the user agent of chrome, all did not work. SOS!!! :innocent:

Try to use the latest Chrome User-Agent (or update your browser to latest version), I’ve solved this problem in that way. Logout/Log In again if not helps. Clear cookies if can’t Logout.

A was using the Chrome browser and experiencing the same issue. However, after switching to Firefox, the issue was resolved.

I think its because you didn’t verify your account……same goes with me too as the verification link has been expired………I had 5 days (expiration time) but ignored it unintentionally

I changed the timezone on my laptop and it worked

Guys just change the timezone on your laptops and it’ll be alright it for real worked for me

I was getting re-prompted almost every question when I was using Arc Browser (Chrome fork), I switched over my ChatGPT use to Safari and I haven’t had a problem. But I would really like to go back to using Arc.

I’m confident my issue isn’t a bad clock (1) I’m using us.pool.ntp.org (2) no issues when using Safari. To me it sounds like a Chrome bug. I don’t have any issues with the quality of the test, I think that’s a separate issue that’s being conflated with this one because of the frequency that we’re being prompted to re-validate.

I am still having this issue. Premium account, using it daily for at least 6 months. I checked my clock settings, nothing unusual there. Tried logging out from active sessions (I use chatGPT on two different computers) - nogo. Using it on Chrome and Edge - also tried Firefox. Mobile app works fine. I am connected from Sweden - is that a problem? Don’t know really what to try next.

Hi, I’m having the same issue, its really annoying. Please fix it.

I am having the same problem and it is making my task much more difficult. Please fix this ASAP or we will have to look for alternatives.

For me, it stopped asking for verification after I turn off VPN. But hopefully there will be a fix than having to use workaround as I require VPN to work.

Awhile back I wasn’t even allowed to login until my VPN was turned off. Then, for the last month or so that was no longer a problem. Now, as it turns out, it’s the VPN again that’s causing this puzzle issue for me.

Figured out - connected from office is OK, connected from home = nogo. Contacting my Internet operator, if they can’t reset my connection (another IP, DNS) I’ll switch to another operator. Else, maybe VPN to my office. This is really annoying. Why is OpenAI behave as a tiny startup? They should at least have tech support.

same problem here! paying a Plus subscription and still required to do a stupid puzzle EACH time I do a prompt!!! this has to be fixed very fast or I will search for alternatives, no choice

After researching, I found a “help article” recently updated by a Research Engineer at OpenAI about them using Captchas. I have sent her a message on her LinkedIn, outlining this issue.

How unfortunate is it that a company as big as OpenAI would not have some Tech Support or at least someone who would monitor the forums to provide help?
