User feedback from within a chat

Feature Request: Let Users Submit Product Feedback Directly Through ChatGPT Conversations

ChatGPT should provide a simple, optional way for users to send product suggestions and usability feedback directly to OpenAI’s development team without leaving the conversation.

Users frequently identify problems, confusing workflows, missing capabilities, and potential improvements while interacting with ChatGPT. Those observations are valuable precisely because they arise during actual product use.

For example, I recently experimented with ChatGPT Work. I found that separate Work conversations fragmented my workflow and created confusion about continuity between conversations. I concluded that the feature was more trouble than it was worth for my needs.

That experience led to another observation: I could explain a potential product improvement to ChatGPT, and ChatGPT could recognize its value, but it had no way to submit the suggestion to its own developers.

Proposed solution:

Add an optional “Send product feedback” action accessible directly within any conversation.

It should allow users to:

  • Submit a feature request or usability suggestion.
  • Include the relevant conversation context, with user permission.
  • Categorize the feedback.
  • Receive confirmation that the suggestion was submitted.

The feedback mechanism should be available on desktop and mobile.

The underlying principle is simple: Don’t make users leave the product to tell you how to improve the product.
