User Feedback for OpenAI – ChatGPT UI & Functionality (iOS + Web)

  1. Feedback Buttons (Thumbs Up / Down):

When I tap the thumbs up or thumbs down button on a message, there’s no clear visual feedback (like a white fill or highlight) to confirm that it’s been clicked. This makes it hard to know whether:
• My feedback was registered
• I tapped the correct button
• I already rated that message previously

A simple visual change (fill color, check icon, or even a subtle bounce animation) would improve clarity and reduce second-guessing.

  1. Deep Research Feature – Needs More Transparency:

When ChatGPT starts a deep research task (especially using tools like web search), I don’t get to see what it’s doing in real time—especially in the iOS app.

It would be helpful to see:
• What search terms are being used
• What sources are being accessed
• What step the model is on

Other platforms like desktop give more visibility, and having that same transparency on mobile would make the experience more trustworthy and interactive—especially for detailed or high-stakes questions.

  1. Text Selection Issue (iOS App):

When I highlight text in a message and try to drag downward to select more text beyond the visible area, the app doesn’t auto-scroll the text box. It just freezes the selection, making it impossible to grab long sections of text.

This feels broken or incomplete, especially compared to iOS-native behaviors in apps like Notes or Safari. Auto-scroll during text selection would be a huge quality-of-life improvement.

Platform Notes:
• Device: iPhone (iOS)
• Status: GPT-4 active, Memory toggle on
• Usage level: High (daily + technical)
• Intention: Genuinely want to help improve UX and polish rough edges
