Urgent! ChatGPT can't read file and image that uploaded from web/pc. But it's working very well when uploaded from smartphone/android app

After almost 2 weeks, finally the web version of chat gpt works fine.

Three days ago, my ChatGPT resumed normal operation. Since I had already purchased Claude, it gave me an opportunity to compare the two. Even though Claude claims to excel in text processing, I found ChatGPT to be significantly better in this area, especially when compared to Claude 3.5. This is not just my personal opinion—I submitted the same instructions to both, then asked Claude 3.5 to evaluate the outputs. It admitted that the other piece was superior and immediately acknowledged the areas where it needed improvement, along with an analysis of how to enhance its output. Notably, ChatGPT does not have this kind of immediate self-reflection capability.

In conclusion, as long as ChatGPT functions properly, it remains the better choice. Additionally, I discovered that Claude cannot upload Excel files (such as .xlsx format), which highlights a certain limitation in its functionality.

I’ve been using Claude for the capabilities that my gpt can’t do ever since it stopped working, and switching between the two for my projects. I hope OpenAI can fix this issue soon. It’s been on and off, but I really miss ChatGPT search. Hopefully something can be done towards the end of December.

Same for me here, o1 mini not working as expected

This has been happening for about a week for me now. What I massively suspect is that they are switching to lesser models when the service is being hit hard. When this happens, you lose access to tools (image generation, image analysis, search). You’ll notice o1-mini does not “think” (because it’s not o1-mini despite what the interface says), o1 does “think,” but not nearly as long, leading me to believe it is actually o1-mini. O1-pro’s special UI doesn’t appear while this is happening either; I believe it is also o1-mini.

If you look around the forums, you’ll see a lot of posts about not having access to various tools or abilities, or o1-pro having “degraded performance.” I’m speculating this is all connected to what is likely a load-balancing method for the service.

This past day reinforced this belief for me, as at the end of day Friday, suddenly I got access to all of the tools again, and that lasted all day Saturday. Only tonight did I lose access again, but I suspect what is happening is that users in other countries are waking up and using the service heavily.

I can only hope that OpenAI either increases their ability to deliver the service or, after the hype from their new releases calms down, usage sinks below the threshold for these restrictions to calm down. What’s frustrating is they don’t tell you when it’s happening. It’s just that suddenly 90% of the service stops working, and the models start behaving much less intelligently. It comes off as scummy and underhanded. If you’re going to need to do this, and going to do it, then they need to actually be upfront about it.

If it is, OpenAI clearly does NOT want to tell anyone about this, as I have emailed support a good amount of times with LENGTHY emails, and all they’ve told me is that they’re working on it.

They very well could be, but the way to fix it, assuming I’m right, would be to increase their compute power so they have more resources for people to use.

Are you a ChatGPT Pro user? I met the same issue. My o1 pro mode only thought for a while. I guessed it is o1 model. And my chatgpt 4o model didn’t work at all. Crying.
