Updated Box, Notion, Linear, and Dropbox apps

Hi everyone,

We want to share an update regarding the Box, Notion, Linear, and Dropbox apps for ChatGPT.

Yesterday, updated versions of these apps were rolled out for ChatGPT, ChatGPT Business, and ChatGPT Enterprise/Edu. These updates add new app actions, including write capabilities where supported, and bring the latest app experience into ChatGPT.

A few things to keep in mind:

  • Existing Box, Notion, and Linear connections may need to be reconnected to access the updated experience.
  • Workspace admins and owners can review app access and settings under Workspace settings → Apps before members connect or reconnect apps.
  • Some of the new actions involve updated scopes. Admins and owners should review existing scopes and re-authorize where needed. The app-specific Help Center pages include the relevant scope details.
  • For Linear specifically, both the legacy app and the new Linear MCP Server app may appear during the transition period.

Updated scopes by app:

  • Box: root_readwrite, ai.readwrite, and docgen.readwrite
  • Linear: read and write
  • Dropbox: openid, email, files.content.read, files.content.write, sharing.write, files.metadata.read, and account_info.read
  • Notion: no scopes

If you experience issues that some users cannot connect the updated apps, the first thing to check is whether the app scopes need to be re-authorized.
