Hi,

I am unable to to sign in to codex account with codex cli, Get this error when i tried to proceed with email method sign in using gmail. It was working few hours before. any one seeing this?
Tried using incognito page as well. issue seems to be on openai server side.

What issue are you seeing?
Codex (both the chat interface and CLI) started failing this morning with a 404 error. It had been working normally earlier in the session, then suddenly began failing with no changes made to my configuration or settings.

Error message:

unexpected status 404 Not Found: Unknown error, url: https://chatgpt.com/backend-api/codex/responses, cf-ray: a355978b9cbdbe08-LAX

Steps to reproduce:

  1. Had a working Codex session this morning
  2. Session suddenly began returning the above 404 error
  3. Error persists on retry, affects both chat and CLI

Additional context:
No configuration or settings changes were made prior to the error appearing. OpenAI’s status page showed no active incident at the time.

I’m getting the same error. Both Chat and CLI.
Is there an ETA to a solution?

Claude went down first.. I suppose many guys switched and overloaded Codex too…

And it could take several hours. I bet many of you - like myself - didn’t sleep well for quiet some time. Get some rest! Sometimes this happens.
