Two small UX suggestions for Codex.

I really enjoy using Codex! Everything is great overall, but I have two small suggestions:

  1. Improve scroll position saving: When switching between chats, the scroll position is sometimes preserved, but not always. It would be great if it worked consistently, so I could return to exactly where I left off.

  2. Side chat in regular conversations: I miss the ability to open a separate side chat within a conversation, like in Work mode, without interrupting the main discussion. Maybe I just haven’t found how to enable it.

Regarding the side chats, they are available by clicking the ellipsis in the top-right, see screenshot below.

Regarding the “scroll memory”, I haven’t seen any issues personally, but maybe as you say it’s a sporadic issue. For me it works every time, as long as the ChatGPT desktop app is open. If I shut it down, and start it again, the scroll markers are gone and you are always at the very last response. Maybe that’s what you were referring to?
