Trouble Getting Accurate Citations for Cross-Referencing

Hello! I’ve been using ChatGPT for work. I have a task that I thought it would be pretty well suited for. The task is taking various documents related to accessibility (long sets of standards at times) and culling out information related to specific elements. For example, I might say, can you find all information from these documents on “Doors.” And these go into a checklist that will be used by people surveying accessibility.

For this reason, it is paramount that the information is accurate and so I ask ChatGPT to cite all information it gets in a parenthetical. However, I noticed that it gets confused easily. It may confuse multiple docuemnts with each other, or make up citations several times before it finally gets them to be accurate. Any idea how to help it cite more accurately?
